The Faculty of Information and Communication, in collaboration with the Chiang Mai Provincial Office of Buddhism, organized a cultural preservation activity under the project "Grandparents Teaching Grandchildren: Preserving Traditions and Way of Life in Mueang Jam."
The Faculty of Information and Communication, in collaboration with the Chiang Mai Provincial Office of Buddhism, the Chang Khueang Subdistrict Administrative OrganizationWat Lao Pa TanBan Mae Pan SchoolRajaprajanugroh 31 School, and the Princess Mother Demonstration Community Learning College of Phothivichalai SWU, Mae Chaem, organized a cultural preservation activity under the project "Grandparents Teaching Grandchildren: Preserving Traditions and the Way of Life in Mueang Jam" on January 6-7, 2025, at Wat Lao Pa Tan, Mae Chaem District, Chiang Mai Province.On this occasion, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Somkiat Chaipiboon, Dean of the Faculty of Information and Communication, along with administrators, staff, student representatives, and students from Maejo University actively participated in organizing activities and filming a documentary. The documentary highlights the value of local arts and culture through various learning stations, including:Traditional snack-making (Tong YongFermented soy (Thua Nao) production,Decorative flag crafting (TungBamboo weaving,Rice crackers (Khao Kaep) preparation,Large drum (Klong Luang) playing,Traditional sweet-making (Kanom Med), andMonks’ drum (Klong Mong Seung) playing.Additionally, activities included Tree Planting for Sustainable Dharma and a Cooking Competition featuring dishes like boiled pork (Laab Moo Suk), fermented soybean dip (Nam Prik Thua Nao Ta Daeng), and steamed vegetables. The ingredients were sourced from the Mae Pan-San Kiang Community Enterprise Group, and the competition saw participation from 11 community teams. These efforts aim to foster engagement and encourage participants to preserve and carry forward their rich cultural heritage.Furthermore, the project aligns with the university’s 2025 development strategy, which emphasizes the conservation and promotion of arts and culture, as well as fostering Thai cultural values among future graduates. This initiative aims to instill a deeper understanding and appreciation of Thai culture, enabling graduates to contribute sustainably to society.

"คืนข้ามวัน (Happy New Year)" is a short film created in collaboration between the OVOC Thailand project (Our Voices, Our Choices), the Faculty of Information and Communication, and FilmSpace. It is supported by the EU (European Commission), Plan International, and the Phayao Foundation for Development.
"Happy New Year (คืนข้ามวัน)" received an Honorable Mention in the Ratana Pestonji Award category at the 28th Thai Short Film & Video Festival. The award announcement took place on December 22, 2024, at the Thai Film Archive (Public Organization)The award was accepted by Chaweng Chaiyawan, a visiting lecturer and the film’s director, while Asst. Prof. Kringkarn Jaroenkul, Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and Educational Quality Assurance, attended as the film’s producer to congratulate the team.The jury panel praised the film, stating: "All three jurors were impressed by this film, which portrays a slice of ordinary life—moments from the lives of a small, seemingly insignificant group of people—with a gentle and empathetic perspective. The Faculty of Information and Communication, Maejo University, Welcomes and Reports on the Implementation of Digital Information Education for Knowledge Communication: "Intelligence Well-Being Agriculture" to the Budget Bureau
On January 9, 2025, the Faculty of Information and Communication, Maejo University, welcomed Mrs. Anantita Intapanti, Director of Budget Division 6, Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation, along with her team. The visit aimed to review the outcomes of the educational management in digital information for knowledge communication under the concept of "Intelligence Well-Being Agriculture: IWA."In addition to teaching, research, and community services that address current challenges and future trends, the Faculty also serves as a downstream entity in the supply chain, acting as a vital link in the innovation ecosystem. This involves coordinating innovation communication, science dissemination, and digital marketing efforts.Associate Professor Chakkraphong Pimphimon, Vice President of Maejo University, Associate Professor Dr. Somkiat Chaipiboon, Dean of the Faculty of Information and Communication, as well as executives from the Planning Division, faculty members, staff, and students, extended their warm welcome. The delegation was also given a tour of the following facilities:Smart Classroom for Brand Innovation and Digital Marketing Media DesignSmart Lab for Entrepreneurship and Lifelong LearningCreative Innovation Development and Digital Media Design LabThese facilities were equipped and renovated using the budget allocations from the fiscal years 2024 and 2025 to support teaching and learning initiatives.4o
